One Less Employer

by caliotter3 Platinum Member

I just learned that Northridge Hospital in the San Fernando Valley, CA has removed LVNs from the ER and placed a hiring freeze for LVNs at the hospital. For those who are contemplating getting an LVN license instead of an RN license in the LA area it is useful to know that there is one less employer. The affected employees received little or no notice. Food for thought.

Thank you for your useful information. I always enjoy your posts.

What are your thoughts on obtaining a lvn license simply for the purposes of bridging to a BSN program?

That is probably the best reason for obtaining an LVN license at this time and I recommend it for that reason to people who want to maximize their chances toward starting an RN program. But to do it with the thoughts that you are going to be able to earn a decent living, think twice.
