NY LPN transferring to NJ

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

H to all, i am a registered nurse in the Philippines. I have a current LPN license in New York ( took nclex rn couple of times but wasn't that lucky so I tried LPn) I am currently residing in Pennsylvannia. Unfortunately, transferring my LPn license is not acceptable if you are an RN working as an LPn here in Pennsylvannia. Since I live couple of miles from New Jersey border might as well apply Lpn reciprocity in New Jersey so that I can work there.

My question is does any of you has the same problem as I have? And if you do, what did the steps you did to obtain a license reciprocity in Nj? Thank you so much! I'm newbie here so please try to understand.

Per NJ law you are ineligible for an LPN license by exam or endorsement. Only graduates of a practical nursing program are eligible for licensing as an LPN in NJ

"Attendance in or successful completion of a professional nursing program shall not serve as anequivalent or substituted quali cation for the practical nursing education requirement (N.J.A.C.13:37-4.1(b) "

Thank you for your response appreciate it. Bad news for me, might as well stick to my RN, I am already applied for nclex RN and will take the exam this Dec.

I just called the nj BON costumer service and she said yes I can apply for a reciprocity as long as I have an active license in New York....I did explain to her my situation that I am a registered nurse graduate but has an lpn license ni New York.

Good luck. The law has not been changed.
