I hope to start lpn school in april, but I keep hearing from people that the only place I will get a job at is nursing homes. Is that true?? I would really like to work at a hospital, labor and delivery or trauma. Do those areas have lpns???

You will likely need your RN license if your goal is to do labor & delivery. Virtually everyone wants to do L&D, so many RNs must compete for the jobs. If plenty of RNs are willing to do L&D, LPNs usually don't receive priority in being hired for that department.
You will likely need your RN license if your goal is to do trauma or critical care. LPNs/LVNs are legally supposed to provide care for stable patients with predictable outcomes, and trauma is a specialty that involves unstable patients.
