New LPN--would love advice about 1st year

hi ,

i just found out today that i passed my NCLEX-PN!

i would love advice or tips from working LPN's--what was your first year like?
i would like to work per diem (or part time) at the local hospital and am going to apply next week. how long of an orientation period did you have and did it make you feel comfortable enough to handle patients on your own? any questions i should ask the interviewer (pay, working conditions, etc) that you wished you had asked?

thanks everyone.

Congratulations on passing boards! Great feeling, eh?

We have a Forum for First Year Nurses at: http://allnurses.com/forums/f224/ , so why not drop by there as well?

Once again, Congratulations!

I am still a fairly new nurse who became licensed in late January. A local nursing home promised me a 4-day orientation, but I got only 1 day before being cut loose to work on my own. Make sure you are familiarized with the paperwork and documentation system at whatever facility you end up working.
