New LPN Needs Advice in Westchester, NY

by Kilim

So I passed my NCLEX-PN and got my License and Registration Certificate as a LPN.
Just waiting for the License ID to get in the mail now.

I am also continuing my education and will start the 2nd semester of the ADN Program this January and hopefully become an RN 2 years from now.

I really wanted to work at the Veteran's Hospital as I am also an Honorably Discharged US Marine and thinking my 4 years in service can count for my pension if I stick for 16 years at a VA hospital.

Unfortunately none of the VA Hospitals near me are hiring

So I am thinking I may need to get a job somewhere else before I get a position at the VA.

So far, I think the only ones I see hiring LPN's are Office's and Nursing Homes.
I really wanted to start out at a Hospital but don't see any hiring at this time.
Wheres the damn nursing shortage

So.
Any LPN in or near the Westchester, NY area know places that hires LPN's and around how much is the usual starting salary?
What kind of work should I expect to see as a new grad LPN?

Any other advice is gladly appreciated.
