    I just got licensed in March and there has been some debate on whether or not the first year I need to do CEU's or not. A coworker said that she thought for the first year you don't have to do any until after you renew your license for the first time.

  4. Depends on your state. Call the Board and ask. They also will print it on your renewal paperwork. You can do the stuff in a couple of hours online, so I wouldn't stress about it.

    First Time Renewals

    A nurse newly licensed in Texas either by examination or by endorsment from another state is exempt from the continuing competency requirement for the first licensure renewal. A nurse’s initial license may be valid for a period ranging from six (6) to 29 months, depending on the licensee’s birth date. Following the first license renewal, the nurse must meet continuing competency requirements for the subsequent biannual renewal periods.
