Nurses LPN/LVN

Does any of the hospitals hire LVN's? And if so, what is the salary for an LVN in the hospital setting in Houston.

If you desire hospital employment in Houston, you are going to need to look into the specialty hospitals such as Kindred (LTACH), HealthSouth (Rehabilitation), Reliant, Vibra, Triumph, and so forth.

Thank you for the response! Commuter. Do they pay as much as the Nursing homes?

I am not in Houston. I am located 280 miles north, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so I do not have any firsthand knowledge regarding Houston's pay rates.

Ok, thank you Commuter! What about Dallas? Do they hire LPN's in the hospital setting? I'm just curious about Texas altogether!

In Dallas, the situation is similar. Most LVN job openings in the area are for LTC, home health, continuous care hospice, private duty, clinics, and psych.

Most of the general acute care hospitals in the area have stopped hiring LVNs. If you want hospital employment, it will have to be specialty hospitals such as Vibra, Select, Reliant, Kindred, HealthSouth, Regency, and so forth.

Thanks

LVNs are employed in LTACHs in Houston but Commuter is correct... acute care hospitals in the metro area are RN only, and most have/are moving into BSN only.

I know from personal experience that LTCs are hiring in Houston. I've seen many banners "NOW HIRING LVNS" hanging on their buildings in various areas of town - LOL. I have no idea of salary ranges - sorry.

Not sure if it helps, but I get $20/hr at a SNF as a new grad.

hello all,

I'm looking to relocate to houston in the next 6 months or less. Currently I have 2.5 years experience as an LVN. Recently i went to a .gov job fair and got offer a position. The security background and the entire process has been slow. i know the gov offers lots of benfits worth the wait......

Trying to get a feel for the houston area job market within both the govt (federal and state) and the private sector to include pay.

You went to a government job fair in Houston? Keep us posted on your outcome. I won't graduate until next year September 2016, but want to relocate to Houston area, so I am interested in knowing how things turned out for you!
