Hi all,

I am a student. Will be happy for answers to these Q.
  1. Where would you recommend a new graduate to apply for a job ?
  2. What is the pay rates for a new graduate in Virginia.
  3. Do employers consider degrees beside in addition to the LPN license ?
Thanks

I like my home health private duty job that I got after graduating. I didn't think I would get to experiance too much to be honest, but after I started cases I got to work with trachs, vents, g-tubes, meds, wounds, caths, sp tubes, colostomys, and much more. It is def a low stress job and a great way to get personal care skills and basic nursing skills down.

My pay started at $17.50/hr on day shift and had a $2 night shift differential (This is in the rockingham co area close to the northern WV line)

I'm not sure what you are asking for in the 3rd question.

I have mostly worked in long term care because it pays more but be prepared to work more. If you find a place that has a good orientation program like at least 2 weeks then a new grad should do ok. I would not go somewhere that only gives you a couple days. Trust me it takes 2 weeks to learn the patients and the paperwork.
