- by lpnfromCT May 3, '12Any LPN's in CT having hard time finding job? Are we being phased out?
- May 4, '12 by ChristinPI live in Ct. I don't believe lpns are being phased out. It's been the same for a while. The job market is poor, I have friends Rns with degrees who have found the job pickings here to be poor. It's the economy. Ive always had 2 jobs, when the VNA of Wallingford closed in Jan. I had a tough time finding a job because not a lot of places are hiring and I could only work 1rst shift- my opportunities were limited. I even *gasp* applied to mall jobs just to pay the bills. Fortunately, I start my new job with a great company on Monday (above average starting pay & benefits). If I was a new grad I don't think I'd have a fighting chance around here!
- May 7, '12 by strawberry_chicawhat would you say to someone who may go to a.i. prince tech starting in august for the lpn program? i did very well on the teas v and am 99.9% sure i will be accepted. they look at reading comprehension scores as their top priority and i scored 100%. i have been trying to get into goodwin's rn program (3x's), did all my prereqs there, scored in the 93% on the nln pax and 87% on their new a+p exam (last thursday) and still couldn't (and wont) get in. unfortunately i put all my eggs into one basket with that school and didn't apply to the community colleges rn programs because they were daytime. i will be graduating with an a.s. in medical assisting in august. now i am so desperate i don't care if i have to leave my job and be broke. not sure if i should do the lpn and program which ends in dec. of 2013 or wait and try to get into goodwin or ct community colleges rn programs or bridgeport hospital (which is far). i am also trying for st. vincent's but i would have to drive out to bridgeport from new britain for a year until starting actual nursing courses with clinicals in fall of 2013. sorry for the long post but just seeing if lpn and bridging is better than waiting on the possibility of getting into an rn program.
