LPN Starting Salary

Nurses LPN/LVN

Hello

I am not an lpn but am thinking about becoming one and i have researched salaries.

I have seen salaries as low as $12 an hour and as high as $18 an hour.

What is the average starting salary for A NEW lpn?

Just want to know if I will be able to pay off my student loan!

I was just wondering, were those stafford loans or private loans that check your credit?

Sorry maybe u misunderstood my question. I see u say you owe 13,000 in loans and I was wondering were those stafford loans or private loans?

My 1st LPN position paid $14 plus shift and weekend differential. I have over $13,000 in student loans and my payment is less than $70/month.

I think the higher starting wages for LPNs are those that have worked for a facility as an aide before becoming an LPN. My mother-in-law has been an LPN for 20+ years and she's not up to $18/hr base yet.

the 13,000 you owe in student loans, were those stafford loans or private loans?

What state do you work in? Here in NY starting is between $18-24/hr. I just started in a nursing home in the bronx 2 months ago and had no nursing home experience only 1 1/2 years hospital experience and started at $24/hr plus full benefits(1199 union). Per diem LPN's can get up to $32/hr(no benefits).

Well it really depends on what part of the country your in, as well as what part of your state that u live in. Close to the city or closer to the "sticks" makes a difference in pay grade as well as the demand for nurses where you are located

Anyone from Georgia? What do you make in hospital, and in nursing home. I work in hospital - 2 years exp and make base rate 15.76 plus shift diff 3-11 which is 2.25 more per hour.

I didn't see anyone from Georgia.

I work just outside of Boston. When I started over 7 years ago I was making 19.75. I make almost 26$ an hour now. Depends on location, experience and facility.

oh that is also close to new orleans and baton rouge so its not the sticks at all........ And places wonder why LPN's get mad when they pay RN's new grads 25 to start

In Chattanooga Tn LPN's starts out making $14-$15 Hr. RN's $18-$19 Hr. Which is good, our cost of living here is very low. You have choice of 2 schools one will cost you $3,000 and the other $7,000 for the year.

considering cost of living in Louisiana has a low start rate. We are about the same cost of living as outside Memphis....... But this is where I am in louisiana there are cheaper parts but I have to live closer to the city
