In TN I've seen wages that range from $13/hr- $21/hr. I have learned that it is all about the company you work for. When I was tech right before I tested, I was making $14/hr and nurses in the same facility started at $15. While most places do account for experience and pay anywhere from .10-.25 per year, as a new nurse I was appalled at the idea of starting at $1 more than I made as a tech before any shift differential and with a lot more responsibility. It took me a little time to find a good paying LPN job in my area, and luckily, I'm very happy with it.
