LPN Salary 2009 - what's competitive?

What is a competitive salary for LPNs in a hospital setting? (in MA?)
What is a competitive salary for a new-grad LPN, in MA?

I know the definition of competitive. I want to know what salaries are being offered so that I can negotiate mine to be on par with the rest. This site is useless.

I think this would be a really good question to post under a regional topic. That way you can get information on what is competitive in your local market. I know in Florida we make far less than the LPN's in New York. It would also depend on your experience. You say you are a new grad, so maybe you should expect entry level pay.

Again, I think if you posted this on one of the regional boards, you would get a better answer.

I think DiabeticGirl18 was just trying to answer your question in the way you worded it. She might have thought you were asking the definition of competitive. I don't think she was trying to make light of your question. We all try to be helpful in our own way...so be a little patient. You'll get the answers you are looking for eventually.

While I hardly think this site is useless I do agree that this might not be the best place to inquire about pay as wages range from locality to locality and vary greatly based on speciality and market trends. Visit the MA board if you haven't already, and if you still haven't gotten the answer you are looking for check out www.salary.com. Those rates can be slightly inflated but at least you have a solid jumping off point. I direct you there instead of just pasting the results for your area since I believe it would be worth your while to go there yourself and see the market trends for yourself as well as a what a sample paycheck would be based on your deductions and exemptions. You'll get a much more complete picture going there and doing a little research than coming here and asking random people from 1000 different locations and backgrounds.
