LPN to RN(2yr ADN)

Well, I am very disappointed. I wasn't very well informed on Excelsior College? You guys familiar with them? I did NOT realize they are an 'exam only' college. How can they advertise the way they do and not offer true online courses? I paid my first enrollment fee today(i had it split into 6 payments), and then they transferred me over to an admission counselor. That is where I found out that they only offer the exams and 'suggestions' on study material! Huh? I will call on Monday and see if I can get my money refunded, if not, it's a lesson learned I suppose. Anyone here know of any really good ONLINE LPN to RN program? Where you actually have courses online, tests, exams, etc. Like a normal college with online courses? I cannot afford to quit and go to school in person and need to do it online. Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Hello Flgal. I am still a PN student, but I hear that Indiana State University (http://www1.indstate.edu/nursing/) has actually online courses, after you complete your pre-reqs. If you have not completed your pre-reqs, they recommend The College Network for the classes you are missing, which I suppose is similar to Excelsior.

You can also find out more about ISU and other online distance programs in the Distance Learning forum.

One other thing you might try... I am not sure where you reside, but in my area, local community colleges offer LPN-RN programs that are approx 3 semesters long and online (except for labs/clinicals).

Check out the distance learning forum here and also the LPN to RN forum for more info. Excelsior isn't accepted by my state's bon any longer so I decided to do a community college program but I would have loved an independent study program and to only be required to take exams without annoying classes!

The college network is only a publishing co, not a school. They sell you study material ,that you can probably get much cheaper on Ebay. I signed up with them because I didn't know what they were.
