Lpn refresher course in georgia

Nurses LPN/LVN

Updated:   Published

Hello I am a new grad LPN currently licensed in Indiana, but residing in Georgia. I've applied for licensure by endorsement, and after a month in a half of processing my application, and telling me I couldn't get licensed because I didn't meet the clock hour requirements for Georgia, the board members have finally decided to allow me to take a LPN refresher course. Great! I can finally get licensed. The only problem is, I can't find anyone that offers them here in Ga. Can anyone help me or give advice on this? Please and thank you.

Kgill1204 and goodsbylpn can you tell me how you got them to even give you the option of a referrer course? Who should i speak with or email? Can someone email me some info if possible [email protected]....i need help...thx ladies x!

GA seems to be the most difficult state to endorse to in general. You must go to the state for your finger printing, the BON is impossible to talk to, you get different answers each time you ARE able to talk to someone, etc. We decided to not move to GA once we learned how ridiculous the BON is there. Plenty if other states that support their nurses!

I know this is kind of old but I'm an LPN from Indiana planning a move to Georgia. I am curious about the school you attended? I want to prepare myself in case I have to go through these same issues.

If you don't mind me asking what school did she attend? Does she have verifiable work hours as an LPN?

I'm not sure what school but yes she has verifiable hours in Al. ..

Hi im currently an lpn licensed in Illinois and worked for almost fige years as an lpn in illinois. I moved to georgia due to my husband job relocation in the usmc.. Im wondering if Ga bon will not deny my license since my school clock hours is less than GA BON clock hours.. Will my 5 years experience suffice?

UPDATE!! Sorry my fellow nurses I haven't been on here in a while.. But after a whole year of waiting, working 6 months in a neighboring state (AL) AND paying $600 for an LPN refresher course, my GEORGIA LPN LICENSE was finally issued on 1-6-2014!!! I'm excited to finally search for a job in the state that I live in... Any leads on who is hiring in Atlanta or surrounding cities for an LPN with 6 months LTC experience? Thanks!!

Hi! I'm so happy to here that you were able to get licensed in ga because I am in the same position you were in right now (new grad from Indiana trying to relocate back to ga). I will start off by answering your question about who is hiring though. Ross Memorial in kennesaw, ga and Grady hospital are both actively hiring . Idk what part of ga you live in. But I wanted to know if you can tell me what refresher course you took and any advice you can give me to make the process easier. I am trying to move in March and don't want to go long without a job

Thanks... I took South Dakota state university's lpn refresher course. You do 8 modules online and you have to do 80 hours clinical, that you are responsible for setting up on your own. They won't even let you enroll until your clinical is set up and approved by Georgia...let me know how it goes... Good luck!!! Oh yeah the course was $600 and that doesn't include all the extra fees for background checks, drug tests, , and all the other stuff you have to get.

Oh and to make the process easier? I would advise you to get your Indiana license and work for 500 hours before applying for licensure in Ga...my problem was that I was fresh out school and just had my Indiana license when I moved to ga.
