I live in Northern California and just called my local hospital for pay rates this past week. As an LVN, I would make $22.50 per hour to start..this is with 10 years experience...and $24.50 per hour if I had my IV certification (which I don't). RN's would make $39.00 per hour...wow!

I live in central Ohio , I've been at the same long term care facility since 1985. I am finally just over $18.00 / hour. I think they start the new hires at $16.00 ,, but it also depends on experience. The local agency starts LPN's out at $19.00 per hour during the week and $21.00 on the weekend.
You must be insane to stay at the LTF for that long a time and only get $18.00 dollars and Hr I would have been gone lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg time ago apperantly they must not appricaite your skill that much if your getting pay that little and it took ]you that long to get $18.00 dollers only... :lol_hitti :lol_hitti :lol_hitti

I live in texas (in a very small town). I work L&D, med surg, and ER at the local hospital and make 14.00 plus shift differential (1.00 weekends, 1.50 nights). I know an LVN that makes 32.00 hour doing the weekend plan in Fort Worth. I have been considering applying where she works and making the drive 3 days a week (120 miles).
It the pay is that good in forthworth then why not move out thier instead of putting that mile on your car????

Not an LVN yet, just a student... In the Dallas/Fort Worth area the nursing home I used to work at started out at $19, I would guess that average is $17-mid twenties. Cost of living is rather inexpensive in our area too, houses are so cheap here compared to the west coast, you can get at least twice the house for the same money it seems! So to anwser that person's question, yes on two LVN's salaries you can get a pretty nice house in Dallas/Fort Worth.
Thank you for the information on the homes in Dallas/Forth Worth I believe me and my fiance'e and my 2 boy will be calling Dallas/Forth Worth home real soon... :roll :flowersfo :bowingpur :icon_hug:

    Hello

I am from Michigan and though I am not a nursing student quite yet I do know that 2 people who worked with me in the LTC Facility that I am currently at graduated from their LPN program and went to a county facility starting out at $19.00 per hour. Thats not too bad for a new graduate LPN.

P>S> Although Michigan is now getting more expensive to live in !!!!!!!
I have a brother who lives in Wayne County and i myself was thinking moving to Wayne County until I found out that it nothing but a Crime County so, can you recommend me a nice and affordable area in Michigan??? I also will be a LPN Student in September of 05 and was wondering what does an LPN make in a Hospital out thier???

WHAT? SOMEBODY CALL THE COPS!! A CNA can make that easy in IL starting out. What do the Rn's make there? A front desk receptionist makes that in NC.

Whoa, where at in Oklahoma? Sheesh can you drive across the boarder into Texas?
I actually did that for a while.Graduated from nursing school in OK, didn't even make twice as much as I did as an aide. Ended up going across the border for $4/hr more, still had to pay OK taxes, so moved to TX and let my OK license go, have kept TX. Not worth the hassle of keeping up with both if you're only using one. Besides the taxes, the benefits are tons better. I think most of the CNA's in TX make more than most nurses in OK now.

Yeah, which hospital did you check with? Seton in Daly City pays some of the students who graduated from the program I am about to also graduated from 27 dollars per hour. That is the truth unless they have lied to us. In San Jose, some hospitals pay as much as 30. I am hoping for the best.

    Good Luck.
