I am thinking of possible places I want to use my future LPN education, and corrections seems to be a high candidate. That being said, do county jails usually hire new LPNs?

Hi!!!

They do hire new grads in corrections, I passed the boards this past January, I was just hired at a local jail!!! I'm super excited, if you do a search on this sure for "new grad, corrections" you will see there are a lot of us that have landed a job in corrections.

I see on your profile your in Gastonia, one of my classmates was hired at the Gaston county jail about a month after we passed the boards, I'm sure you'll be able to get in!!!

When do u graduate? Good luck!!!! :)

I got hired as a GPN on a PRN basis at my county jail. They used a mix of LPNs and RNs, slighty more LPNs. The LPNs passed meds (I passed meds to almost 300 inmates on 3-11!) we also did treatments, vitals and triaged inmates who put in written requests to see medical staff. As for the RNs, they acted as charge, did intake and did the physicals.

Thanks, and Congrats to u too!!!! July 31st will be here before you know it!!!! I went to Ecpi in charlotte.

Whoohoo! Come on April 2013, ECPI, Raleigh! If I can make it through lpn school at ecpi, corrections should be a breeze!

I work as an LVN at my local county jail. I was a brand new grad with no prior experience in healthcare. I absolutely love it! There are a lot of things that you get to do and for me there is never a dull moment so it makes it fun :) best of luck to you!

where can I find correctional that hires a new grad LVN in California? or a county jail?
