That's pretty good. Cincinnati is only about a 2.5 hour drive for me so maybe I should look into jobs down there and consider moving. I'm only making about 13.50 at a local assisted living facility with almost no benefits. Although if you add the yearly bonus it should add up to around $15. some of the LTC facilities in the area do pay a little more, 16-17 tops. I can't seem to get into any of the better paying places and I need about 16.50 to break even on bills. So right now I'm also picking up some days prn at a nursing home and still have to defer my student loans occasionally. I'm kicking myself for not going to an interview for a state job last fall because it was about 3 hour drive away. Now I'm debating on what I should do? I'm thinking either file bankruptcy and stay where I'm at, look for work farther away (although not real practical with a house), or try to go back and get my RN (although I really don't want to borrow any more money).
sorry

Thanks for sharing everyone. I noticed when I moved to the South, they don't like advertising how much they pay. I dont' like that. I like to know how much before I even consider applying.

Dang that's pretty good. If I may ask, what part of Virginia, whats the cost of living like and are is that facility or any place similar hiring? I work at an assisted living place here in NW Ohio and only make 13.50/hour with no benefits (besides free food). We can get insurance I think, but its like $75/month and I can't pay my bills now. It sucks not being able to take a vacation or miss a day when you are sick too. The only reason I'm holding out right now is I'm "supposed" to get a bonus for staying there a year in about a month and also a small raise too. I hope so as they have a habit of not reimbursing for things and holiday pay is hit or miss.

Dang. As a new grad in PA in LTC I started at $15/hr + $0.20 shift differential on evenings. Rotate every other wknd. I pay for my benefits and we have a 403(b).
That doesn't sound too great on paper but the flip side is that I absolutely love my job and am working where I have wanted to work since I went to nursing school. :)

LPN for a year but starting rate at my LTC facility was $18 for all shifts with shift differentials of a dollar or two. I work 3-11 and make $20.50 with full benefits and work every other weekend
