Just passed my NCLEX-PN, looking for my first job! HELP!

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi!

I just took my NCLEX-PN September 3 and am looking for a job! I am looking in the Houston metro area! DOes anybody have any suggestions or know of any openings?? I am so excited! Thank you in advance for any information!

Specializes in ER, gen. surgery, express.

wow you just wrote your exam september 3rd and you're stressing about jobs? Yeah it's exciting but it's hard out here (for LPNs and RNs). Even those who wrote the exam before September are still finding it hard to land a job. :smackingf

I'm not from Texas... but that's just my 2 cents

First off, congrats on passing Boards!! :yeah: I'm shocked to hear you can't find a job in Houston!! When I graduated in 09, there were NO positions open to new grads where I lived- very discouraging. I started to expand the search and there were pages and pages of LVN positions in Texas, LTC to hospitals...I almost moved there, but I was finally able to find something here in Cleveland after a 3 month search. I say just start going to different places, giving them your resume- even if they aren't hiring or want 2 yrs experience. You never know what may come of it. Good luck to you, nurse!! :redbeathe

Thanks for your .02 cents and encouraging words. (I hope you realise I am being sarcastic.) I am not stressing, I am excited and doing a job search. The job market is difficult here... for anybody... in the entire US. So I know it may be a little bit before I am actually hired, but that doesn't mean I can't begin to apply now.

Thank you so much on the congratulations! I am actually in the process of job searching, I have had 2 interviews so far. One was with a dialysis clinic, and I believe they wanted more experienced LVNs and the other was a nursing home that made me very uneasy! I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions with the search or places to search. I love new ideas! There's a job out there for me... I just have to find it! :nurse:

I just posted some of my job-search tips. check this thread, post #5

good luck!

Congrats!! I passed my NCLEX-PN 3 months ago and still no job. It's tough, everyone wants experience. I recently started working on health fairs, and I plan to start volunteering. I hope you find a job soon.

It's funny...I apply EVERYWHERE even the places that say exp. Anyhow, I have had many requests/inquiries but I have a small family I'm in charge of .... anyhow, just landed a HUGE interview tomorrow... check craigslist, indeed, and your local sites....these have helped big time!

Congrats!! It is such a happy day, week, month when your hard work pays off and you pass the NCLEX and you can say "I'm a nurse".

I am not sure where to suggest you look for a job. I am have been unable to find a job and have been looking since before I passed my nclex back in July.

I have had a few interviews even one that told me I was at the top of their hire list. I am naive and trusted them. They ended up stringing me along for a month and then told me they hired someone with more exp. :(

I have applied and applied and applied. I have even started to look for pct and cna jobs. Still no luck with them.

I however have a few of my fellow students who have landed jobs. So just keep looking. Indeed is where the majority have found work.
