LPNs will be around as long as there are jobs that don't want to pay full price for an RN. Simple as that

What kind of nurse do you want to be? What is your dream nursing position?

LPN's are being phased out of the hospitals and some states phased them out period however, there are a lot of jobs for LPNs especially in big cities, and they work in LTC, rehab centers, HHC, maternity floors and birthing centers, doc offices, etc.

That's a pretty sweeping statement.

Could you inform us which states have totally phased out LPNs?

I live in Arkansas and I've heard nothing about any if our area hospitals phasing out LPNs. I would also be interested in more info.

I wanted to be an ER nurse when I was in LPN school.... Now I'm an LPN and an ER nurse!! Just finished my ACLS recert: shock shock epi shock amio shock atropine hypothermia protocol

While it's true that LPNs are more limited than RNs in which areas of medicine they can work, I see no signs whatsoever, at least in my state (MS) that LPNs are being phased out. I see job openings everyday for LPNs in many different areas of practice, including hospitals. Obviously it has a good deal to do with geographical location.

My dream position is to be a RN... But I have been considering taking the LPN course. I have attended school for everything under the sun CMA, CNA, CHHA

I currently live in New Jersey... What states phasing them out completely??

I love it when posters make sweeping statements, remain on line when requested to provide details, and then never respond!

I know the area of Texas I'm in the hospitals no longer hire LVNs.. The ones currently working in the hospitals either had to attend RN program or would be a "tech/CNA"
