Program length depends entirely on what part of the country you are in and the program itself. Some range from 18 months some are only 8 months long.

I don't think it was hard, but it is time consuming and there is a lot to learn. Do you already have some kind of medical background? Are you good at Anatomy or Math? Do you have the time to spend on learning the concepts. For an overview of what exactly LVN or LPNs do check out some youtube videos. Or search through the sites on here for some reports of typical days in the program.

hm.. I am thinking of starting next year :]. Thats why I ask.. If I check youtube videos what do i type in? just LVN?

Is the LVN program hard? Well, the answer to this question depends on your prior level of academic preparedness. The LVN program is very easy for some people. Others find it way too difficult. I completed a mixture of college-prep and honors courses while in high school, so I thought that the LVN program was not too hard. However, some of the people who want nursing careers are not very academically oriented, and these are the people who typically complain that their nursing courses are too difficult.

It was difficult because I worked fulltime and went to school 4 nights a week til 10:00pm;I started reading some of the txt books 1 year prior to starting the class and that saved me (I was on a 1 year wait list) I hadn't been to school in 20 years, math was definitely a challenge and my advice would be to brush up on it if you haven't had it in a while.

That being said, it was the best thing I ever did. I challenged myself and graduated with a B. Its totally do-able if your heart is in it. I quit my job as an executive secretary after 23 years and now work in a mult-speciality medical clinic and its the best thing I ever did. I love what I do.
