I think I blew my interview!

Well, I had my first interview today. I have not been to a job interview in over 14 years. It seemed they liked some of the things I had to say. I got some positive feedback, but, I feel like an idiot as to my answers to some of the questions or the fact that I had difficulty coming up with answers to others and fumbled through them. When I was able to speak more freely I was able to convey myself a little better. This sucks! Of course the first interview I got is the job I really want. And now, I have all the answers. AAAhhh! Just looking for a place to vent.

You likely did better than you think. They may have just thought that you were nervous. I am sure you have thought of this, but you could send a note thanking them for the interview and just say that you really would like to work there. Good luck.

I think interviews are like NCLEX in a way . . . the more you think you bombed it, the better you actually did on it. For every interview I thought I bombed out on, I have been offered the position.

So think POSITIVE! Im pretty sure everyone gets just as nervous and fumbles at some point in an interview. So keep the mindset that everyone else fumbled worse than you, lol.

Bet you'll get a call back from them.

Thank you for the positive feedback...Like GB said, it's kind of like the NCLEX. And now, all I can do is wait, wait, wait. It's amazing how much one can stress about something that can't be changed. What's done is done and now I just have to hope for the best. Wish me luck!!!

Piggy Bank Re: I think I blew my interview!
I had my interview yesterday with my first choice as well and feel EXACTLY the same way! I was caught off guard with a few questions and used 5 sentences to answer a question that could have taken 5 words.

Everyone's telling me that I probably did better than I expected and that there's nothing I can do about it now. Nevertheless, I can't escape the dread that's plaguing me!

I do, however believe in the power of positive thinking so I will continue to try to EXPECT the best.

I was told that I will be notified by the end of this week so we'll see!

Good luck to you!!!!!

Update! I called back the person who interviewed me today and it seems I may have gotten the job! I have not gotten the official offer, but, I also received an e-mail this evening saying I would be a good fit and to follow up on Monday. What is crazy is that I had a dream the other night that I got the job. It seemed so real and I was so excited. Then I woke up..I was sooo mad it was a dream. It's crazy what your mind can do to you. I was convinced I wasn't going to get it. I still don't believe it. So, I guess the moral of the story is...hang in there..for those who are still anxiously awaiting. AND, thank you for your kind votes of confidence.

See you didn't fumble like you thought! I've read that the more interviews you go on the more it'll build up your confidence and you'll get so many job offers that the only thing you're fumbling over is which one to choose. Congrats and Good Luck!
