    YEAH!
    Congratulations to ya!
I start LPN Program on July 5th. How have you liked working as a CNA. I would love to do CNA or Nurse Tech, while getting my LPN - just to get my feet wet.

Good Luck to you! We're all going to make good nurses. :roll

Alot of the programs will offer to get you certed midway as a CNA, mine did, although it really didn't appeal to me as I was already an EMT so it would have been trading one certification for another. But most of them should offer it once you've completed so many contact hours at the bedside, all you have to do is submit the application and the certification fee, maybe do some fingerprinting etc... and voila, certified CNA ready to work...

Unfortunately, my school did not offer this option. It may have been because it was a brand new LPN program and we were the first class, but they didn't. My certification expired many years ago, because I didn't work in a nursing home that was supposed to recertify the CNA. I do think that it is insulting that a nursing home is the only entity that was allowed to recertifiy the CNA and not hospitals. I worked in a hospital for many years as a Patient Care Associate and was never recertified, although I used more skills at the hospital than the nursing home. At this point, I wouldn't bother, but, if I had it, I would probably keep it active the same as I also retain my phlebotomy certification.

Yeah that was probably the case, all new, my school was a few years into their VN program so they offered it, not that I wanted it or anything, I had enough on my plate just doing the studying for the VN classes. But alot of them do offer it or at least will help you go through the process of obtaining it if you want it...

May all the wishes of luck be with you!!! keep your nose to the grindstone and don't let up, it may seem like it's too tough sometimes through the year you'll be going to school, but it'll be like yesterday when you look back on the whole year and say "god that went so fast"...

Congratulations! I know how relieved you are, I got mine in February and am so excited.

I wish I was starting as early as the rest of you seem to be, but in Canada you usually only start in January or September. In the fall though, it will finally be my chance!

I am just so excited for all of us!
