I can't find a job in Oregon!

Nurses LPN/LVN

I am planning to move to Portland/Salem area the beginning of June.

I have been searching online for a LPN job that is NOT in a nursing home, but have only found one part-time job available.

I am starting to get worried that I will be unemployed if I don't find something tangible soon. Have been a LPN for 19 years.

Any hints/suggestion from anyone on where to work out in that area? Doesn't seem like there are any job openings for LPN's in the hospitals.

Thanks for the help.

hi, i know that i have seen LPN job postings on some of the hospital sites in the portland area in recent months. Also our educational service districts will utilize LPN's in schools for kids with major impairments/disabilities. (not as a school nurse though). here are the names of some hospitals and places to look into. ( i am just an RN student so i don't know all the in's and outs, and you may need to look under job titles like "tech", "PCT" etc.. which i know may be insulting because you are a nurse :uhoh21: but i saw LPN postings in those areas quite frequently)

Multnomah Education Service district (a great place to work by the way! )

here is a list of a lot of the area hospitals just type the name and state into the search engine if i didn't provide the web address. I included vancouver,WA into your search because it is basically a suburb of portland, with the benefit of having a light traffic commute, because most people are going from vancouver to portland.

Kaiserpermanente NW

(hospital/and assorted clinics)

Portland Adventist hospital system

Legacy Health systems (a few hospitals and clinics, large organization)

Southwest Washington Medical Center

Providence health systems

Oregon Health Sciences University

OHSU

there are some more but these should get you started. Again make sure to look under things like "clinical support services", Medical Assistant, Tech's etc... Good luck on your search!

paprika, you also can look for job postings in the main portland/metro area newspaper by going to Oregonlive.com or typing in The Oregonian into your search engine. For Vancouver, Wa The Columbian. Theses 2 newspapers post their classifieds on their site and it's free to look.

Thank you both so much. I found a few more jobs that I am going to inquire about. I am going out to visit the week after next, so hopefully I can get an interview and job soon. I appreciate all the help.

Good luck! Also check out the Oregon State Forum at: https://allnurses.com/forums/f169/ . Maybe you will get some ideas there......
