How much do you make? Feeling under paid :(

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I was curious to know what type of nursing you all do and what it pays in your area? I've been looking at other positions (home health, hospitals, and doctors offices) but I don't know what fair pay is. Several of the home health agencies by me pay $15/hr with no benefits!

$23.23, I live in New Mexico,first job,been there for 2 yrs

I'm in Florida also, not yet a nurse but looking forward to it.

@ Disneygirl23, you mentioned school nurse and Florida in one sentence, that sums it up :). I have a LPN friend here in Broward county and she mentioned $16 a hour; the hours and maybe benefits is what might help many choose school nursing.

Our state is pathetic, I hope it gets better soon.

Good luck!

I started at $18.50 in long-term care as a new LVN in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2006. Through deliberate job-hopping my final pay rate as an LVN was $27.04 at a dumpy LTC facility in the same city in 2010.

I suppose I've been fortunate to have worked as an LVN in a low cost-of-living city that actually pays its LVNs competitively.

I currently make $22/hr as an LVN in Corpus Christi, TX doing pedi PDN. My last job I worked in an adolescent rehab facility making $17/hr.

Whoa, now I feel guilty for feeling I am underpaid! $26.50 per hour with benefits and I'm at a small hospital in Houston, telemetry unit, 1 year experience. But trust me, this job is SO stressful that I earned every stinkin' penny!

That salary isn't what I make. It's really sad what I make. I'm a school nurse. And it's pathetic. I have to work a second non-nursing job just to be able to survive.

One reason I left school nursing (bringing home a 1500$ paycheck was not cutting it). Feeling way underpaid is such a downer.

@Kwaziness That is my DREAM job & the pay is good but then again you live in Houston so it makes sense.

I make 18 an hour as a new grad at a ltc in central pa. About the norm around central pa for ltc

You have to move to where the money is. I make $30.xx is Albuquerque. I moved here (moving expenses paid) for the huge bump in pay. With differentials I am at $35.xx to $38.xx.

Working for Health Care Insurance company is where the money is. I know RNs that make at least 60K per year and you don't have to have experience in insurance. You review clinical records and determine if the services are medically necessary (guidelines, policies are provided to use) or you could manage a member with a chronic disease. Most of the jobs are from home within 90 days.

They have jobs for LPNs as well doing similar jobs. I make $26.26 per hr (full time M-F) and I work from home. You should really look into it. Check BCBS, United Healthcare, Aeta, Cigna websites.

Good Luck and keep looking.

I did PDN for a year and a half $35 an hour then a cut to $32.66 (Medicaid) no benefits at all. Just went to LTC/Rehab for $25.60 per hour $30.60 if I pick up extra shifts. I'm in WI but looking to relocate to VA----hope it's not a loss to do that!

Anchorage,Alaska. Rehab/LTC 20/hr .90/hr after 1430 and 22.90 on weekends. I bring home around 1400-1800 Q pay period depending on if I pick-up xtra shifts. First year out of nursing school. Rumor has it that once I hit my 6 month mark I get an increase.... To bad I'm moving to Texas 1 day before that happens ?.
