Home Health LPN position St Augustine Area

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi Everyone!

I am wanting to fulfill a dream of living in St Augustine. Does anyone know of a good home health provider to apply with in the St Augustine area? Does anyone work with a provider that they feel is head and shoulders above the rest? A good employer and good to their staff? Any experiences with a provider that you would feel the need to share? I have Hospice (private duty), wound care, TSI experience. But only 3 years total.

Thanking you in advance! :nurse:

I live in Florida and have 15 years LPN experience. Most well known companies require 1 year but have seen some hire new grads. Many home health agencies I have worked for are disorganized and since they are mostly funded by Medicaid they don't pay crap. Benefits are non existent or non that great. Experience will not increase your pay. Sorry I can't offer any positives

Well even though it isn't the news I had hoped for, I appreciate your candidness. Are there any positions or companies, areas of focus I can look into? I have two years home health private care experience... MS, MD, Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia, COPD, CHF, End stage cancer. Right now I m a clinical office coordinator (1 year) for a home health provider service for TBI and TSI. your thoughts?

I have worked for four different home health agencies over the years. Sometimes for supplemental income, sometimes for a less demanding job while going back to school. Private duty medicaid is the most common. Usually more pediatric opportunities. Maxim is well known but completely disorganized and the lowest pay I've ever seen. Plus, with most private duty, if your patient is hospitalized, you don't have a pay check until they are discharged back to home. tiu have experience so if it's what you want to do you can definitely get the job. There are other areas of nursing you can do, such as long term care. Florida has a lot of them. The only thing I would be care about with them is make sure that you research the facility first. Florida is moving towards RNs in hospitals. I don't know of a single one that hires LPNs anymore. That's why I'm back in school after 15 years

Maybe Hospice? Hospice was what I originally wanted to do. I have no desire to work in a hospital. I didn't enjoy it in clinicals at all. I think I should get certified in wound care maybe. I am at a loss... this is my 4th career and if I bridge over to RN I would be 56 when I finished. NOT in love with the idea of more school. Dang... this is disappointing to say the least. But once again, I do so appreciate your honesty. If you think of anything please let me know! Thanks!

Most of the nurses that I know that have worked for hospice enjoy it. I don't know if the opportunities in that area of the state. I would suggest asking a recruiter about it. I know the hiring process can take a while. There was a job posting that I respondedto but had already secured a postion elsewhere when they called for an interview. The three years experience that you have will be a huge help when securing any LPN job in FL. The hardest thing I have heard is from new grads lately. This wasn't the case when I got my license. They were hiring us on as aides at facilities waiting for our license to be verified as valid a couple days after we passed online so they could have us as licensed staff as soon as possible. The market sure has changed!
