Well Im a hillbilly and my standards for acceptable living may be a little lower than most..lol I bought a 1997 mobile home (16x80 3 bedroom 2 bath) from a friend , it was in ok shape just needed the floor replaced which we did. Not anything fancy but livable. I did that cause I knew me and my husband would both be in school at the same time and I didnt want to choose between eating or paying rent.

I read this thread and I wonder... how much taxes do you pay? For me those kind of wages is sooo much. Here in Finland they pay me about 2000$/month. And we pay a lot taxes.. And living here is quite expensive...

I have 2 questions.

#1 Can LPN's do travel nursing and through what company?

#2 Are there any jobs for LPN's out West: like Nevada or Arizona?

Thanks!

To answer your first question, you'll need an RN license if your goal is to do travel nursing. The LPN/LVN scopes of practice drastically differ from one state to another, so RNs end up doing the travel nursing due to less licensure restrictions.

To answer your second question, there are jobs for LPNs in Western states such as Nevada and Arizona. However, you'll need to live in or near a large metro area such as Las Vegas or Phoenix. Small towns tend to present very few job opportunities for LPNs.

My husband was in jail. Prisoners always gave the healthcare staff crap, because they don't get good care in jail. So if you think it will be interesting, remember that you will be suffering because jail systems don't care too much about the care prisoners are given, and the prisoners know it and get ****** off. They almost amputated my husbands toes because they didn't want to spend money to treat a dangerous spider bite. I think that also goes into ethics. How can you be a good nurse when they don't want you to give the best care....just a little something for you to chew on.

I am LVN in california, 6 yrs exp acute care. At the hospital I was paid $21 hr but made $42k in 05..this included a little over time. Nurse registries, both north and south california are paying $20-23hr with time and half last 4 hrs of 12 hr shift. This would then avg $25.66hr. This is routine north and south and you do not need to work prisions...where the staff is more of a concern than the imates. I know. best to you

There ARE travel opportunities for LPNs, but they are few and far between. I traveled with Supplemental Healthcare for over a year and made ~$27/hr. Your "wage" is only $10-12/hr, but they give you a tax-free "expense stipend" of $550-650/ week.

Otherwise, agency LPNs are paid the highest- and of them, corrections nurses make the most,(at least in Western NY). LPNs out here average about $17/hr & $20/hr for agency.

I'm currently working at one of the county jails and nearly DOUBLED my income by going agency. Two years ago I was making $16/hr per-diem. I returned three months ago through an agency and am now making $30/hr. SWEET!

We bought a mobile home also 1000 sq. f. for $39,000 and it was built in the 60's. We do not own the space and pay $1,100 a month for space rental......

Rhode Island and Connecticut pay higher than California and the cost of living here in RI is not bad...A 2 family house cost between 250 or 300 grand...Do the math people!!!
