Help!

by aegirl

I've been working at this LTC facility for a week. I'm still on orientation and they have me floating. In 4 days i've been on 2 different floors with 3 different people orienting me. I want to quit because I don't feel comfortable floating. I was never told this when I was offered the position. My question is, when filling out other applications should I put this facility on the application or should I not? I'm not planning on giving notice.

If I were you, I would meet with the DON and explain your concerns. Make sure she knows that this situation is intolerable to you and that if it cannot be resolved then you will give notice. I wouldn't quit without giving notice- it could come back to haunt you later. I know of one person (actually I used to work with her) who did something similar- she quit after only a couple of weeks at a facility and did not give notice. She also didn't include it on her job application, and got a job she LOVED at another facility. The bad news is that three months after she started, her former supervisor was hired on at the same facility. Just like that she was fired for not including the first job on her application for the second.
I would meet with the DON as soon as you can, so that your 2 week notice could begin as soon as possible if she refuses to give you a permanent hall to work on.

I've already explained the situation to the DON. She told me she would look into it and get with the scheduler. She got back to me last Friday and all she did was give me a schedule that shows what unit i'm on and when. She didn't do anything to resolve my concerns.
