Got my first nursing job!!

    HEY ALL!!!!

So I passed my NCLEX-PN in 85 questions It took 4 weeks for my license to come, I applied for 1 job and I got it. (I am in an RN program that after the 4th out of 6th semester we have the option to take the NCLEX-PN exam if we meet certain criteria) I have less than 6 months to go before I am an RN!!!

    ANYWAYS!!lyc

So I went on 1 interview and they called me back in less than 24 hours (they said it would be a week or so) got a job in a LTC facility that has a really high acuity population. Most of the patients are on vents and have G-tubes. I am really excited!! I really want to work in the ICU eventually and working with patients on vents would be awesome experience for that.

Working 2 nights a week (6p-6:30a) is EXACTLY what I wanted and that is their shift. My classes start at 8a sometimes so I have enough time to get to class

So I am finally going to be able to play nurse without an instructor over my shoulder. I think when I give my first med I will feel like a nurse

    Ok...that is all

    NIGHT!!

congratulations! sometimes, i think i'll feel MORE comfortable doing certain things (giving injections or drawing blood) WITHOUT a preceptor standing over my shoulder. instructors and preceptors don't make me nervous, but i feel like they make the patients question your ability. it tends to make me back down from doing certain things because i feel like the patients don't want me to even though i know i'm capable. when i'm completely on my own there will be no confusion about who the nurse is and whether or not they want you sticking them!

COULD NOT HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF!

I do better with patients when I don't have someone looking over my shoulder.
