First Job Inerview...LVN!

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hello everyone! I have a question. I recently graduated from an LVN program in March (I'm in California). I have my first interview set up for next week for an LVN position. Now, I don't have my license yet.....I haven't even heard from the board yet to schedule my test date yet. Question #1: Can I work w/out a license while I'm waiting to take my NCLEX? (I've heard that in CA you can apply for an interim permit to work, only if you are taking your NCLEX after 90 days of completing an LVN program...something like that). I really wanted to take my NCLEX w/in the first 90 days, but again, I have to even be able to schedule my exam. I really would like this LVN position....it's part time and it's exactly in the area I want to be in. So, Question #2: What should I do? Apply for an interim permit and try to take the exam like 95 days after I graduated? Not quite sure...I want/need to go about this the LEGAL/RIGHT way....help!

Thank you!

I don't think you can work as an LVN because you are not yet licensed. I think you can be employed as a Graduate Practical Nurse pending your certification and you are supposed to be licensed within 120 days.
