Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I had my first interview yesterday at a nursing home and I think it had went very well. I was filling out my application and when I told the staff I just pass boards the immediately told me to do an interview with the DON. The DON had basically told me the pay and the shift and etc. The DON said she will call my references and call me once she speak to all of my references. Do you all think I have a shot at getting hired?

Yes, of course. With no precious experience, you are in a position of being molded however the DON sees fit. Aside from that, the DON is aware of the new-grad, right-way-to-do-things mindset. Barring any negative reports from your references, you should be good to go.

Thank you very much. I am just worried because it has been 3 days since my interview and I haven't heard anything yet.

Sounds good to me. Call Monday to follow up. Speak to the DON directly or the hiring Nurse. Places tend to like new grads because no bad habits!

Sometimes it helps for you to let your references know to be on the lookout for a strange number beginning with area code XYZ so that they'll answer the phone when a potential employer calls.

This could be the hold-up, or the DON was busy and may not have gotten around to checking yet.

Depending on your state, it could take at least a week to get those criminal background results back.
