Extreme Stress at work (What medications do you take for stress?)

I have not posted on these forums for a while. Just knowing that I have to go to work tomorrow makes me feel very stressed out. It is hard to explain in words just how stressful my job is.

My question is how do you cope with stress? What medications have you taken that help alleviate the stress?

Also has anyone taken valium or xanax? I never tried them so do not know what to expect. I need something that will let me go to work without this extreme stress. I am nervous the day before just knowing I will go to work tomorrow.

Everyone reacts different to medications. You need to discuss options with you personal physician. No one can reasonably give medication/treatment advice over the internet

I like to run/exercise to alleviate stress or find an artistic/crafty outlet. This will likely not work for everyone.

These are the symptoms I feel:

1. My heart feels warm and is pumping faster and harder than usual.

2. I feel very anxious and nervous.

3. In the morning I always feel like throwing up just thinking about going to work. I do throw up about 70% of all mornings.

4. I shake every morning.

5. I breathe harder than usual.

6. A very uncomfortable nervous/anxious feeling all over my body.

You need to consult a mental health professional or your employee assistance program(EAP)

We cannot assist with medical advice or diagnostic suggestions on an anonymous message board. Clearly you realize that you need assistance.

Most companies offer EAP services. Your PCP can refer you to a qualified mental health professional for assessment and treatment recommendations. If you do not have access to an EAP or insurance most states have county health departments with mental health services on a sliding fee scale.

If you feel overwhelmed and unable to function, go to your local emergency department to request emergency psychiatric screening services.

Good luck I know you have posted dissatisfaction and difficulty with your nursing job in the past. Hopefully you can get the support you need to move forward.
