"Easy" LPN jobs

i have worked in several aspects of nursing and no matter what you do, nursing is not an "easy" job! have you considered maybe you are in the wrong profession?

Not enough information to judge, but I think that this person has an interest in being an active nurse...he/she stated that they didn't mind ER/office/prison. Can also be that this may be an inquiry for a second job. The way that I run around at my clinic all day long, I'd certainly want something less demanding. Or, if this is a new nurse, and they can have a slower introduction to our field, that may not be a bad thing either. Let's give the OP the benefit of the doubt.

She stated that she doesn't like body waste or the smell. She's aware that long-term-care might have more of that then she can stomach, so she's asking for a different type of LPN job.

I would suggest a doctor's office, if they can use an LPN. Or, how about labor and delivery, postpartum? A school nurse would be excellent, but they need to have an RN. Ditto with health department nurses that give shots.

I'm almost embarassed to talk about all the GREAT jobs I've had as an LPN. When I got out of school...MANY MANY years ago, I was hired for Recovery Room....I then ran an EKG Department...and about two years after I was in the EKG Department, the Chief of Medicine at our hospital asked me to come to work for him....as his hospital nurse. He was Internal Medicine...I got to see and learn a lot. Several years later, I moved to a different state and started working in agencies...doing hospitals, private duty and some subtance abuse centers. I used to watch the staffing people and I ALWAYS thought I could do that job REALLY well. SO...I asked the Director of one of the agencies to give me a try in the office. I started doing it in 1985....and two years later, a private investor approached us about opening an agency for HIM.....I am still there 20 years later! I never worked a weekend or holiday in ALL my years of nursing..unless I wanted to. NOW that's what I call an easy career

I work in assisted living during the week and ltc weekends. Assisted living is great and laid back and my pay is high but i work with staff who have little or no experience in healthcare. I am the only nurse in the evenings and i make all decisions. In ltc i can pick up the phone for house sup. or call another nurse for assistance. But I like them both equally.

Whatever you do, do not step into a prison if you are a woman! I worked at one for 2-weeks and I felt violated everytime I stepped into the facilty. I did not have a strong enough backbone for this area where men talk to you like you are a potential sex object. Making remarks about your looks and body is not what I went into nursing for. Prison nursing is not "easy".

There are definitely jobs in nursing for LPN/LVN's that are not direct patient care. One LPN I know works at a fitness and wellness center. Another works in an MD's office. There are definitely a variety of options out there. You just need to look for them.

I have had a few jobs in nursing and I would say that an A/L is the easiest followed by staff nurse. I now work as charge nuse on a 60 bed sub acute, this is hard. I love the days when a staff nurse calls out and I can just relax with only 20 pt, not all 60 plus family and doc and admin. When I worked A/L it is so simple but you do need to have the guts to make all decisions.

Look at the number of viewers for this thread and compare it to the number for other threads...we're all looking for the easy job.
LTC is hard, but I haven't worked in other places so I can't compare. The nurses in the doctor's office always look calm, but they aren't paid well.
Or go for RN and move into administration. There are a lot more options as an RN so if you're going to make this life-long, consider getting the education now.
