Connecticut LPNs....

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi, I am a LPN student and was thinking of going for the RN program when I am done. On the Connecticut forum, someone states that Bridgeport Hospital starts new graduate nurses w/ a Bachelors at $26.50 per hour. Is this true??

In Fairfield County, LPN's make an average of $25 per hour, sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more.

I am more interested in LTC facilities. If there isn't that big a pay difference, I will just stop after LPN school.

Just want to make sure I have my info correct. Thanks!!!

The difference is not in starting pay so much as opportunity for advancement. Usually LTC actually pays better than hospitals. You also have job security in LTC. In my years an LPN, I have seen the hospitals hire large numbers of LPN's only to lay them off or change them to PCT's when RN's become available. If you can do it, I'd advise you to continue and get your RN, then you will always have a job that challenges you. LTC has a need for RN's too. It gets frustrating after years in the field to not even be able to update a care plan.
