Choosing a new route, is this decision more practical??

Hi, I'm a Pre-nursing student... And into my second year in college, I feel like taking these prerequisites isn't for me anymore. I can't sit for 3 hours to a math lecture or English lecture..

I want to start my Nursing courses, and feel like I can succeed if I take smaller steps. I was going to pursue the RN program, but right now my grades are not stellar!!

I am taking Philosophy 101 and hoping to take a CNA course next semester ... I wanna try to look for a job in the field after I finish the training too.

And in the fall semester of next year, I'm going to take the LVN intro prerequisite to get into their program. I feel like I can do this much better , and it feels more feasible and practical to me.

What are your thoughts on this?

For me it was more practical to start off in lpn school and see if nursing was for me. You can get your CNA after you successfully complete fundamentals, so, I'm going to do that. Then I plan to do the Excelsior bridge to RN program. It makes more sense to me than waiting on the waiting list at my local cc to get into their nursing programs. You have to do what feels right to you. What I may have done at 19 is much different than what is best for me at 39 with 5 kids and a husband :) Good luck! I love lpn school more than I thought possible.

As for me, spent 3 yrs. Doing preriq partime. Then I switched gears went to 5 mos. AUA program at votech. Worked 1 yr in hospital, loved it. Now on 3 rd week of LPN school. Love it but challenging. I don't want to wait on waiting list or sit in boring lectures. This is best rout to go to get hands on skills for RN program later down the road. Ok off to class I go.

I did an accelerated lvn program because I had no credits from college and did not want to do 2 years of pre reqs and wait on a waiting list for the rn program that is at my local community college. I am now working as an lvn and doing some courses online. This was a good route for.. However if I was younger and more patient I would have rather done the rn but at this point didn't want to wait lol. The only thing the job search. I was lucky and got a job offer right after I got my license but a lot of my friends school are having trouble. Do what you think is right and what makes you happy!
