can't find a job

:balloons: i am a recent graduate and am taking my boards on may 18.

I have talked with some of my classmates and we are all having a difficult time finding a job. It seems like no one wants to hire an unexperienced lpn. I have been a stay at home mom for the last 18 years. So i have no work experience. I am becoming very discouraged. Does any one have any

advice.

What do your clinical instructors say? Do they have any ideas? Did they not offer you a Job Fair? What about where you did your clinicals. They should be more then willing to hire a New Nurse atleast for Med Surge. It is a great place to work, you see so much and can really get your skills under your belt.

Where all have you tried? Hospitals, Nursing Homes, etc? Just what are you looking for?

reply not many positions open around here. those that are do not want new graduates. the hospital i did clinicals just don't have a big turn over.

Your perspective and outlook well change as soon as you pass your boards. So are employers. Check paper want ads, internet, State government jobs especially corrections, doctor's offices, your local veterans affairs hospital (VA) apply even if they are not hiring (they will keep your application for one year until a position is open). Your education does not stop because you are out of school. If you can afford it IV certification for LPN are always a plus and favorable with employers. Check your State scope of practice first. List your clinical experience in your resume all the skills that you performed in your training. Send as many resume as you can. Don't lose hope, concentrate on your upcoming board and Good Luck!

I know how discouraged and depressed you feel right now. But please try to remain positive, once you have your license, things will open up. Have you talked with any of your classmates about car pooling and looking in a broader area? I will pray for you that something opens up soon.
