I have been working as an LPN going on 3 months. I currently have a job working in an assisted living facility. I work Monday through Friday, day shift. The pay is okay. Probably towards the lower end in my area. I don't mind my work at all, and my boss is decent. I don't really get a lot of practice with skills because its a mental health assisted living facility.

My dilemma is that I was recently emailed by the VA regarding a full time swing position. Before I took my current job, I really really wanted a chance to work for the VA. This is at a skilled nursing facility for veterans. Would I be crazy to not go to the interview? Or would I be crazy to give up my current gig? I'm so lost right now! The grass isnt always greener, so what if I give up something for something miserable? Or what if I don't take this opportunity and I miss out? I was told by a nurse recently that when she worked at this VA facility she got a lot of hands on nursing skills practice and it was "fun."

    What would you do?

    What would you do?
They do have some really good benefits, including retirement.

Although the VA is not the highest-paying employer, you cannot beat the benefits. If I had the chance to work for the VA, I would accept the offer in order to have a comfortable retirement.
  5. :cough: check out the VA :cough:
  6. Yes you would be crazy not to go to the VA interview.
