Register Today!- May 17, '10 by RyniqueQuote from curlygirlieis anyone applying to brcc for fall 2008? i turned in all of my paperwork. i'm just waiting to take the hesi exam in april. i already took the hesi at another college a week ago, but brcc has a new rule that you have to take the hesi at their college.
where else can you take the hesi? - May 17, '10 by RN2B12You can take at LSU, but there is Science on it. The science part is not required for BRCC.

So how would BRCC know what to do if you took the science portion and didnt get a 75% composite with it versus if you hadn't taken the Science, you would have?
Also, have you taken any courses at BRCC? I will be transferring from another school with all of my pre req's without having taken any at BRCC and I heard that counts against you. - May 17, '10 by RN2B12I guess if you took it somewhere else and had your score transferred they would just average the scores from the 4 parts that are required for their school. I have not taken any classes at BRCC, and I applied for the Fall 2010 semester. I am very nervous that I am not going to get in. I've heard from someone on this forum that they had a 3.6 GPA and a 95 on the HESI and did not get accepted b/c they had no classes at BRCC. Then I heard from someone else that they look at GPA and HESI first then the classes taken kind of like a tie breaker. I have a 3.75 and got a 90 on the HESI. I was confident, but now I don't have a good feeling about it. I finished all of my general ed. classes in 2006; that was before BRCC had a nursing program. Letters go out the second week in June, so we'll see. Good luck.

Yes...goodluck and please keep me informed. I will be coming into their school with nothing of theirs. LOL! I'm trying to find a school now as we speak that offers the HESI other than BRCC so I can take it early. Was that LSU in New Orleans?, because the one in Baton Rouge says they don't offer HESI. I also wonder how many students does BRCC take every year. I will be applying Jan.12 for their Fall 2011 class. - May 17, '10 by labr87I think they take 60, I know I said 40 in an earlier post, but I think it is 60. The HESI at BRCC is not hard, so I would suggest taking it there. When I took it I used this book Elsevier: HESI: Admission Assessment Exam Review, 2nd Edition - Elsevier. ISBN:9781416056355 and it helped a lot. Also, it really does help if you take your classes at BRCC. If you aren't planning on applying until 2011 then it probably wouldn't hurt to start taking some classes there now, even if it means retaking the prereqs you already have. If you made a B or a C in a prereq somewhere else, try taking it at BRCC, it really will benefit you. By taking your classes at BRCC you will also meet a lot of other students trying to get into the program and that is always nice.

Good luck. I know how hard the wait was for us. - Jun 9, '10 by RN2B12I got my denial letter today. I would suggest that everyone applying to BRCC take classes there first. I have a 3.75, got a 90 on the HESI (the average for my group was 79), and I've finished all of my general ed. classes. The letter stated the reason as limited space. I learned today that I don't handle rejection well, LOL. I'm excited about applying to LSU, but I'm bummed that it will take an extra year to graduate. Good luck to anyone else who applied.
