New to West Monroe, Help!!!

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

I just moved to West Monroe due to my husband being in the military. I currently have a ADN and I am unable to find work. Does this area require you to have an BSN?

Hello, how has the job search in Monroe/ west Monroe turned out for you?

No and ADN is just fine! St Francis draws a lot of employees and he majority of my classmates(ADN) went there).

Specializes in L&D.

ADN is fine. St Francis & Glenwood are two area hospitals. There is also University Health(used to be EA Conway). I'm not sure if they are hiring still, but they may still be. I work there and really love working in a teaching hospital.

That's great! I'm from there and I'm in nursing school now. The plan is to return home once I graduate.

Specializes in ER, TRAUMA, MED-SURG.

I have one year left of nursing school, and I am seriously considering returning home once I graduate. Are you all satisfied with your pay in that area? I live in Texas now and I am worried about the pay difference.

I just enrolled in the LPN course at Delta CC which will be through the Vo Tech in West Monroe since I will have to go nights. I'm very excited. There are tons of job openings for new grad RN at Glenwood, and a lot of jobs for LPN as well. I just hope there are still some open when I get out! I'm curious, I have an AAS in Surgical Technology. I never sat for boards, but I wonder if that degree will help me when I complete LPN school and try to get a job. Ultimately, I will pursue my RN and hopefully be able to work in surg.

Hey Mel! Glad you're here in W. Monroe! I worked at GRMC in the past, first as an LPN then as an RN. I left there quite a few years ago but it was an awesome place to work.

I had to retire a few years ago after having a stroke but dh is also an RN and is a nsg sup at SFMC in Monroe. We aren't really sure what will happen there in the next year or so. They atre doing the feasibility study on whether or not they should keep the downtown campus open or close it and open the North campus. That should be interesting!
