I work in LTC and it's THAT time of year again-State Survey.
We recently had a meeting to go over all the new policies, rules and procedures that are being implemented IMMEDIATELY, and we are all just overwhelmed. And every day, they think of a few more and post them. I can't keep them all straight!! They are trying to give this place a complete makeover in a day and expect everything to run smoothly!
I don't know any of the guidelines, and have been unable to find a copy of them. I was told by another nurse (that's not in LTC) that I'm not supposed to touch or show ANY affection toward my residents or call them anything other than Mr. or Mrs. and their last name. Cold and professional.
My poor DON looks like she's gonna have a nervous breakdown any second now, and always looks like she's gonna cry. I live in a relatively small town, so we have a pretty good idea of when they're gonna hit. I was off yesterday, and I hope to sweet Jesus they came, because I have never been through survey before, and I have NO IDEA what to expect!! I've only heard bits and pieces of horror stories about losing your license, getting fired because you don't do well, etc.
How bad is it???
