Just wondering if it is standard and common for nurses to be applying fundal pressure to laboring moms during delivery in Louisiana?
I was surprised to see such an antiquated practise being used, albeit the nurse didn't bat an eye when asked to do this by the OB.

I had my kids there and yep, fundal pressure and all. I can even remember the nurses feet coming off the ground as she was laying across me.
Weird thing is, I wasn't having any trouble, no fetal distress, no large for dates, nothing. On my first push, she just laid it on me. Unfortunately at the time I didn't know better. Fortunately, four pushes and she was out. Alot of MD's over there are "old school" and still believe that it is necessary. My sister delivered there and she had a younger OB who told the nurses no, so hopefully they will phase it out. My son, on the other hand, just slid out pretty much so I was lucky on that one.
