I just wanted to start a post to see if anyone has applied to Charity School of Nursing for Spring 06. Letters are supposed to be mailed at the end of June. If anyone has any info please let me know. I will do the same. :)

I was wondering the same thing. I heard that last year people got them right around Memorial Day...but I haven't heard anything or know of anyone who has for this year.

I started my hep shots in december so all I have left is the third one in june, but from the info I have received from someone in the LPN to RN class in June is that you have a lot to do in a short period of time. You have specific uniforms to buy and specific shots and medical tests you have to have done. I can't wait...actually I am tired of waiting and want to get that letter. I was turned down by OLOLC and I am working on my MBA, so getting accepted to Charity is important to me. First person to know something let me know, and like I said before, I will do the same.

On another note, I am taking a CNA and learning EKG and Phlobotomy this summer. I figure any way I can get some skills in to get the nerves under control before nursing school will be a plus in my book. I need some opinions: Do you think it is a good idea to spend almost $1000 right before nursing school on these skills? I'll have about 5 months to work before nursing school to practice those skills. Any opinion matters... well almost any opinion.

In my opinion anything extra you know going in will give you an "edge up". I have 2 small children so I really don't have time to do anything extra, but I'm sure it will be helpful for you. I already have a degree in education and decided to give up teaching to try nursing. I have taken all my pre reqs except micro ..which I am taking over the summer. I hope to hear something soon! I will post to you if I hear anything from the other people I know who applied.

I understand what you are saying about the children and all. I have three chldren ages 9, 8, and 3. I am attending two schools at one time, one for nursing prereqs and the other for my MBA. I need the MBA financial aid to pay for nursing school. The only way I can do this right now is to not work and my husband, a police officer, makes very little money, but it is a sacrifice we have to make for now. I am off from one school for the summer, this is the only way I can take the extra classes.

I have a B.S. in Management and I am making a career change as well.

My children are 3 and 1. I don't have them in daycare or school so I can only take classes at night. My husband is an engineer and I am lucky that he makes enough money that I don't have to work. I have been considering putting nursing school off until my kids are in school so that I can go during the day instead of at night. I stopped teaching to be home with them and it would defeat my purpose to then put them in daycare to go to school. I wish you lots of luck with school and your family!

Did you apply to the day or evening program?

The day program. It would be hard for me to go to school at night because that is the only time I get to spend with my children.

I also applied to Charity for the Spring 06 semester and am waiting to find out. I plan on applying to LSU as well and would actually rather go there being I already have a degree and could be selected for their BSN care program which is accelerated.

Good luck everyone!

Hi,

Just wanted to pass along that I know of two people who got their acceptance letters today for spring 06.

I got my letter today and I'm in!!! This is good news because I was turned down by OLOLC. I'm excited and scared at the same time.

I received my acceptance letter today for Spring 06 admission. Anyone else receive their letter for the day classes?
