I just got my acceptance letter today for Jan '08 class. I can't wait. Has anybody else gotten their letter yet? I was wondering where is the best place to get all the medical tests done (i.e. Hep B, MMR, etc) that they require. I really don't have a primary care physician or anything like that. Any advice would be appreciated. Look forward to seeing some of y'all in January!

Hey guys, i am from the westbank, and i also will be starting at Charity in Jan. (evening division). I bought all the books and supplies in the beginning of October. Most of the paperwork, i had done already because i was accepted into the program this fall, but had to ask for a deferment for the spring semester because i had just given birth to my daughter. Anyway, the only thing i have left to do is, 1. get the (which is super easy to do online - i tried doing it online in October, but it has to be within 2 months of when you need it, so i will probably do that at the end of December) 2. I have to go get the TB test done Jan. 2 at the St. Charles Health Unit - $20.00. ( I got all my vaccines done there - the only thing is the meningococcal was $100.00,:o but it's worth it.) 3. Get the Nurse pak at City park bookstore.

P.S. Buying the books online are cheaper. I compared prices with Delgado's bookstore (barnes and nobles), Amazon and Chimes. And it was a lot more cheaper for me buying online. I got all my books new, and since you don't pay taxes or pay for shipping on Amazon.com , it works out really well.

i still have to get uniforms (doing that this weekend), and finish getting textbooks. class will be here before we know it.

has anyone heard from financial aid?

Hi, I've almost gotten everything done, still gotta do a CPR course, and get the liability insurance. Hoping to get some of the books for Christmas ! Has anyone purchased the nurse pak from City Park? I was wondering what all is in it. Who all is planning to go to the student-to-student orientation on Jan. 9th? I am planning to go. It's supposed to be a good place to hook up with other carpoolers (I'm on the northshore). Between gas, Causeway toll, and parking, it could get expensive just getting there..But, I am getting excited !!

I purchased the nursing pak yesterday. I think it is a rip off. All it had in it was 3 single packs of gauze, 2 dressing trays, and a small half filled vile of sodium chloride. In order to purchase the pak you need to bring a copy of your class schedule.:uhoh3:

Anyone starting NAC1 in January, and purchased the Nurse Pack? If so, can you tell me what's in it?? Thanks!

Hi!

Iam a senior at charity and hope to graduate in may of 08. If there is any questions that I might can answer, please let me know!

You will use everything in you nursingpak for nac 1. Take it from a senior nursing student

Thanks Nursing StudentMS for offering your input, can you tell me if we absolutely need the nursing pak for basics? And any great advice or tips for getting through the first semester would be greatly appreciated!! I am so anxious to start- it seems like forever since we got out acceptance letters- now its right around the corner- finally. I guess I have mixed emotions- I'm scared to death and at the same time soooo anxious! Any input you can offer to us newbies would be great!!

Learn about the "nursing process" before school starts---it really helps organize your nursing brain, get it in the right mode. Do well on the first two tests--they won't get easier than this, and you will need that cushion. Believe me! You will NOT be able to bring your average up on the final.

Also, my instructors let us all share the contents of the nursing pak, for both basics and NACI. They are overpriced! No need to buy just yet, talk with your clinical instructor once you meet her, and see if she will let you share with one or two other students, then go in together to buy it.

Any tips for preparing to start NAC I? I know they gave us some reading assignments and we have a dosage calc. test the first week, but any advice for NAC I would be appreciated.icon7.gif

be sure to keep your notes organized! utilize the nclex review questions in the textbook. highlight any and everything the instructor says is important, prob a test question somewhere along the way. prioritize nursing interventions, remember ABC. again, ace the first few tests, INCLUDING that calculation exam...which is pretty easy, just basic math.

crescentcitygrrl, what level are you?
