hi, i was wondering if anyone will be starting charity day class in august? i start in august and would like to know if anyone from the st. bernard area will be going with me. i am very nervous !!!!!!!!:rotfl: :crying2:

Am I the only one who gets freaked out about the location of the school? Im not originally from Louisiana, nor do I go on the southshore often, so it was a little much for me to handle. The parking! The environment! Please tell me Im not alone here -- any advice would be welcomed!

(ps- I know nothing about parking meters!)

I completely agree with you about the area. I live on the northshore and hope to start next spring. I will be going at night..and the area is one reason I am having second thoughts!

I have 2 children and I don't want to put them in daycare to go. I guess I will wait and see if I get accepted for Spring 06 and go from there. It would be alot better scenario to be going during the day though. I've heard there is still a waiting list for that garage.

When are you going to start?

I am starting this Aug. I thought the night students could use the garage... the day students have a waiting list.

hi y'all and congratulations on getting accepted! i was down there at delgado in 2003 trying to finish up my pre-req's so i could apply to charity but had to move home to lafayette and now i'm at LSUE. the cutoff GPA to get into clinicals here is really high so i'm trying to figure out a plan B if i dont get in. plus i desperately want to move back to Nola, i miss it so much. i was hoping y'all could answer some of my questions so i can get ready in case i need to transfer:

i heard that there is a year long waiting list to get into charity, is that true?

how does the selection process work? gpa? holistic?

what classes do i need to have completed to get in?

do they accept fall and spring or just once a year?

what tests do i have to take and when are they?

and if there is any inside info/helpful hints you can give me they would be GREATLY appreciated. when i was at Delgado in '03, i felt like a lost child. i didn't even have an advisor and some student worker did my transfer credits and told me that none of my sciences from other 4year colleges transfered so i would have to take them all over. i know that i would have had a better experience if i had had someone answer all of these questions last time for me.

i hope y'all can help me. thanks in advance!

Does anyone know what exactly is going to take place on Student to Student Day on August 3rd? I received a postcard about it, but don't quite know what it's about.

My husband is a police officer at charity. From what I can gather the students (night) can use the garage. I know the officers patrol the area, and they have not had any incidents. They carry a gun, and I can't speak for the other officers but my hubby was a navy seal in the vietnam war, he also works for the sheriff's dept. and has sharp shooter ranking. And ladies, he is on the 3-11 shift at the nursing school. My best-friend just graduated from there and she had no complaints about it not being safe.

Hi!!! If you call admissions and ask for a packet, I swear to you that all of those questions will be answered. 5045686411

Classes are accepted twice per year, you have to take the PAX exam, there usually is a year long waiting list, the more prereq classes you have, the more points you get towards entry. I'm in for spring 06, I waited a year, and my GPA is just a 3.2. I have other degrees so I guess that helped. As far as transfer credits, depending on what school the credits were from and the grade made, most science classes transfer. I am picky and unless it was a real advisor or counselor, I will not deal with student workers. Don't get deterred by someone telling you that you have to take something over. You don't have to have all of the prereqs done to get accepted, but you do have to have A & P 1 lec and lab finished, among other classes, to start nursing classes. THat packet answers all of your questions and it doesn't take long to get it. OK? :) That year you wait for entry if you have passed the other requirments goes by fast and will give you an opportunity to finish prereqs. Hope I helped...Rah
