BSN to hopeful McDonald crew member

I recieved my BSN in 2010 so far the only RN job i have landed is homehealth making 35 dollars a visit with 5 - 9 visit a week. I am struggling to provide for my children. I really regret wasting so many years in nursing school. I am hoping this is only in New Orleans. I Will work at McDonalds until I have enough money saved to move some where that has RN jobs. Does anyone know of any towns that have a true Rn need.

Hey mcperry, I felt badly after reading your post. I can understand your frustration after spending far more time past a traditional RN program only to have limited positions available to you (as we all are experiencing). So my question to you is if you are considering relocating out of NOLA to perhaps further north. I live in Louisiana as well, and I continue to see more BSN positions posted for the LSU Health Sciences Center here in Shreveport LA. I'm kind of thinking you may find better opportunities outside of N O right now. Hope you might consider.

I would highly suggest a move to the northern part of the state. Im in between Shreveport/Monroe and I have not heard of many RN's who aren't being hired right away...im sure there are some, but I don't think it's as bad as it is in the Southern part of LA and other areas.

You can try St. Francis(West Monroe), Glenwood Regional Medical Center(West Monroe), NLMC(Ruston), EA Conway(Actually I think it's LSUMonroe now), LSU Shreveport, Schumphert(sp?) in Bossier or Shreve..VA hospital in Shreve too...There are others, I just cant think of them off the top of my head.

Thank you for the suggestions! You both said Shreveport, so I will definitely applied there. Thank you I was really starting to regret getting a degree in nursing.

I also live in north Louisiana. Dh and I have worked at St Francis - I worked in the ER and he is a house supervisor. I have also worked in West Monroe at Cornerstone Hospital in WM. It is LTAC but the staff members are great and pay has always been excellent. I have just always preferred acute care/ER to LTAC.

What used to be North Monroe Hospital in Monroe no longer admits patients - St Francis bought the facility and they now do breast imaging and ER. Any patients that are admitted from the ER are shipped to SFMC downtown.

Meh... with a BS degree, you could at least be a whopper flopper watcher (manager/shift leader) as opposed to a whopper flopper.:roflmao:
