Due To Void

Every building I've ever worked in has had basically the same policy for foley removal...take the foley out and the resident is due to void within 8 hours. I am wondering if there is some new, more evidenced based information that states the resident should void in 4 hours or 6 hours. I did a google search and of course came up with all sorts of not-evidenced based information. Any ideas? I should probably post this in the urology nurses section, too, but thought I'd start here.
