Is it possible to start out as an independent LNC?

by djmicu

Hi! I'm thinking about a career change from staff nurse to legal nurse consultant. Is it possible (after getting an LNC education) to begin as an independent consultant? Or do most nurses begin practice by working with a law firm or insurance company? One of my reasons for changing careers is a big need for flexibility and being able to work around my family's schedule. My goal is to be able to work full time from my home. Sounds like I might be asking too much!! Any input on education would be apreciated as well. Thanks! Dana

Hello, djmicu,

I think that most of the LNCs desire to have their own practice. At least that is the way it is with the ones with whom I am involved. Just had our quarterly meeting last night (about 50) and all are private practice.

I started out independently. Just incorporated this year. It is not asking too much. Actually, this gives you much independance.

I took the Vickie Milazzo course. You can see the ad above many of these pages, or contact: www.legalnurse.com

Great to have you here. You have the experience to be a successful LNC.
