Hello everyone,

I am new to this site and interested in a career as an lnc as well. I have researched and am planning on the chicago seminar with Vickie. Anyone else attending I would like to hear from you. I have 6 years ICU experience in MICU, NICU, PICU respectively am hoping to find a new niche to explore as I am felling a little burnt out with hospital politics/ poor staffing/ crabby nurses! Would love to hear from anyone with tips or advice.:coollook: :coollook: :coollook: :coollook: :coollook:

Hi!

I am also signed up to go to the Milazzo course in Chicago in May. I recently got my stuff and am on Module 3. Figure I'll study now and try to get ahead. Where are you from? I am in wisconsin. Looking forward to the seminar, maybe we could get together and meet at the seminar. I think it's always easier when you know someone there.

Let me know.

how great you found this sited before going :) I wish I had when I took my course - would have *really* enjoyed sharing the room cost - LOL

AND actually knowing someone there :) But it was also quite a lot of fun making new acquaintences among the nurses from ALL over!

G-d bless and good luck on your new venture!

I have been an RN for 10 years and have experience in Med/Surg, ED, ICU and am currently employed by the State at a correctional facility. I am a little further north than you. Close to Oshkosh.:nurse:

hi all,

I am also new to this board and have been considering taking Vickie's seminar, maybe in orlando. Does anyone know any details about the SLM loan. I plan to sign up for the VIP package. How long does it take to study the materials ahead of time? The Orlando seminar is in April so I just want to make sure that I give myself enough time to study before. One last thing, I was on Vickie's website and there was this private apprenticeship that I could register for instead of the 2 day apprenticeship. Does anyone know the pros and cons of both and which would be more beneficial. Thanks ahead for any responses.

Hi Crouton76 and Rgcirn- I will be attending the Milazzo Chicago Seminar in May as well! I am from Mass. and have 12 years total RN experience(Labor&Delivery, Intermediate Care Nursery and 2 years Case Management) For the past 2 years, I've been out of direct patient care working as a Director of Operations at a Medical Transcription Company developing and overseeing quality processes (of patient reports that are delivered to hospitals and clinics) I am anxiously awaiting the materials in the mail as I'd like to start preparing before hand. Looking forward to networking and meeting some new friends.

Hello to those of you deciding to take the VMI course. Congratulations on an excellent decision! I took the course this past October. There are several things you will want to do before going to get ahead, so that when you get back you can hit the ground running. Besides studying your books, that is!

Order yourself some business cards for networking while there. These do not have to be the ones you will use with attorneys. I think it is a good idea to have your experience listed on them, otherwise every time you hand one out there you will be writing your specialty and experience on them. Just go ahead and print it on there I.E. "16 yrs experience in NICU".

Get yourself a mailbox- not a post office box but one at a UPS store or MBE, etc. The post office doesn't accept fed ex, UPS, etc. This is so when you are geting med records etc delivered to you, you don't sit at home waiting for them when you could be out meeting with attorneys!

You may also want to start a database of attorneys you want to contact once you are certified. Look in your phone book, call the offices, etc. This way once you get back, you will already have an idea who you want to call.

Do you have an office set up? Even a small place in a corner...If you signed up as an Executive or VIP you will also need space for all the case reports. BTW, you may not want to look at the case reports til after the seminar. I made the mistake of looking at one and terrified myself! (Oh my gosh, I will never be able to do this). Once you are certified you will understand how to use them.

I am sure there are more things you could do to get ready. Hopefully others can pipe in and help you get ready for your new exciting career!!!

Good Luck!!! Patti
