So far I am keeping my resolution not to procrastinate in my marketing. I do have a question. I mailed several intro letters and hand delivered 3. I was pleased with the first attorney office I went to, as the receptionist also gave me a card for another attorney to try. But on the second office visit I was told no soliciting was allowed. I was nervous so I did not see the sign posted. However, the receptionist was nice and accepted my packet and candy I brought. The third office was down the hall and I did see the no soliciting sign in the window. I did not go in, but did end up mailing the packet. How is the best way to handle this situation for the future?

My second question is I want to send intro letters to 5 attorneys in the same group. I will send out one intro letter packet to each attorney, but how do I handle the follow up phone call(s) to each attorney? The office has one phone number.

So far no cases yet, but I am optimistic.

You handled this fine, Kats2. If/when you see the signs, just send them a marketing packet and f/u phone call.

When you f/u with the 5 attorneys, try and connect with them all. Many times, you will only be able to f/u with a couple. Each attorney should have their own voice mail.

I am getting ready to tackle exhibiting. My car is packed and early tomorrow morning, I am headed out to my first conference. I must say that this afternoon, I was terrified and wondering what I got myself into. But everything has worked out so far down to my display arriving this am. Looking forward to it, and thanks Siri for the advice. I also read the sticky notes very carefully. Too tired to be scared now. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Well I have done mailings, and tried to do follow up phone calls, but the people who offer to take a message and have them call me back- never do. I had one attorney call me back and then when I sppoke to him, he basically got my message and couldnt remember who I was. When I told him what I did he said his wife was a nurse, but i said if he ever had any questions in an area that she wasnt familiar with then to call me. I have probably mailed out at least 60 packets and nothing. just a little discouraged- thats all.

So, you have faithfully f/u on all 60 mailings? If not, you definitely need to do that.

If so, start again with new contacts. It may take several mailings to get that first case.

And, contact those in your area to set up a luncheon. Have Power Point presentation about your business and what you have to offer during the informal luncheon. It will keep your name and face out there.

You need to really consider exhibiting at your state Bar Association and/or your state Trial Lawyers Association. And, you may even consider advertising in one or both of these organization's quarterly issues.

I know you are discouraged. It is the hardest part of this career.........selling yourself. Keep it up. You will get cases if you are persistent.

Good luck.
