  1. I am soooo excited, I had to post before I go to bed. I had a GREAT time at the conference. I have one attorney that told me to call him the beginning of next week to pick up a case that he was explaining to me and 4 more attorney's that were very interested in my services. All of the five asked my prices and services and then all of them came back later to talk some more during the conference. They said they would be calling me, but we'll have to see about that I'm sure. Two of them are friends of the first one that gave me a case, I got a really good feeling about them and I'm not sure about the fourth and fifth. Everyone loved my setup, pens and candy!

It was very interesting to be the only exhibitor. They placed my table right next to the door and I was the only table out there, so at first everyone thought I was the registration desk, which was right inside the door. I introduced myself, gave out cards and info if they were interested and then guided everyone in to register.

Sorry to ramble on - but it was awesome!!!

  6. Thanks everyone!

Now for the questions. The cards that I collected in my drawing bowl, do I call them or send a nice note of some kind to them? The one attorney that won my Starbucks coffee drawing and free screening (which worked GREAT sirI, thanks), what would be my option for him?

Also, I have a list of all the attendee's of the conference. What should I do with it? Do I send them all a marketing packet, nice note? What would be best?

Then there is the attorney that asked me to call him next week. Do I call him Monday or would that look too eager or even desperate for the case?

Since this was my first time exhibiting, I am at a total loss of what to do next.

    Thanks again!

I would send a marketing packet:
    • Intro letter with a special blurb about meeting him/her at the conference
    • Service provided
    • Types of cases on which you consult (that apply to the attorney's specialty area)
Be sure to state you will f/u with a phone call in X days (1 week to 10 days).

If one or more attorneys stand out; in other words, you marketed to them and they showed an extreme interest, I would go ahead and phone them personally and skip the packet. They will probably want one and you can tell them when you speak with them that you will send them one. Or, you can go ahead and have one in the mail to them when you phone them...

    You are welcome!!

I would phone him and tell him that he won the drawing. Then, you can set up a time to come in for an interview.

I had the same thing. Took me a while, but I sent marketing packets to all the attendees. You can include that special note about meeting them.

I should have told you before the conference to mentally jot down (and, later, on paper) special parts of your conversation with the attorney so you could recall later when you phone them/send a note. Sorry, but forgot that part.

Then there is the attorney that asked me to call him next week. Do I call him Monday or would that look too eager or even desperate for the case?
No, it will not look desperate. He invited you to call him. Monday is fine. It's strictly business. Shows that you follow up on things.

Since this was my first time exhibiting, I am at a total loss of what to do next.
You are doing fine. Go with your instincts, too. You are the one who actually met face-to-face with these future clients.

    Just be faithful to f/u.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks sirI. You did tell me on our phone call to jot down info on the attorneys, which I did.

Also, I should have mentioned that we did the drawing at the conference, so the attorney knows that he won and has the gift card already.

Good. I'm glad I went over that part. LOL!!!

Go ahead and f/u with a phone call about a week later and see if you can set up an interview. But regardless, do send a note of congratulations and that it was a pleasure to meet him.
  10. I took care of a patient on my floor for the last 2 nights who is an attorney. She is in family law and has no need to utilize an LNC, but she suggested that we ( LNCs) look for the attorneys who deal with malpractice and those who have a need. She said that we would be the "medical expert". All the while I was thinking that getting my paralegal would help me get my foot in the door of a law firm and then work my way into the position. She waid that most of the time, they are not hired on as staff, they are just called on frequently for your expertice in the field of nursing, because they don't know what all the medical terms mean and they don't know the procedures and stuff. She was very informative, just as this forum has been. I just thought I'd share this bit of info with you all. You may aleady know all this but, oh well. That's just my 2 cents. HAHA:chuckle.
