Hello, sdaug90, and welcome to allnurses.com and the Legal Nursing forum

Well, that was rather curt of them to reply that way, wasn't it?

I personally do not do email marketing. A few LNCs with whom I have a relationship, do. IMHO, it is a lot like receiving spam/unsolicited mail.

If you should decide to communicate in this form, you really need to have made initial contact with a perspective client, a referral from an existing client, a business relationship with a client.

Email can take several forms:
  1. simple introduction letter that addresses each attorney specialty area
  2. letter (as above) with an attachment such as a photo
  3. letter (as above) with text file attachment such as an electronic newsletter
Just remember, email marketing is instant and that can be problematic. Individuals often do not take the time to adequately proof a draft of an email before clicking "send". Even if you think you've done an adequate spell check of the message, it could contain typos, erroneous information, or even worse, poorly formed/ill-considered thoughts and words.

Be careful, be thoughtful, and pay attention.

And, good luck!!

If you need other assistance with marketing techniques, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hope you enjoy your stay here at allnurses.com!!

Just joined this forum! Just started marketing as board certified LNC and board certified O.R./perioperative nurse with 30 yr exp. Took very comprehensive course at LNCCenter Charlotte, NC. Intro letter, sample case analysis and business card enclosed. will follow up with calls and cold calling as well. hope this is successful as IO have become quite disenchanted with nursing per se. Hello Siri,
I am in the process of getting my marketing off the ground. I will be purchasing the software soon and was wondering if it was recommended to buy the whole package...or can I get by in the beginning with just the basics? The cost is a bit steep but I realize this will make report writing so much easier. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Hello, annare,

I would suggest just the one to do the case reports and the one to do the timelines. Those two are the most important.

You can always add others as you can afford to do so. That's exactly what I did. Started out with two and functioned just fine. Then, as I could, added the others.

Good luck and let me know how things go for you.

Just wondering--where are you purchasing the software from--is this from VMI or somewhere else? Thanks.

Any suggestions for a sample "script" for lack of a better term to utilize when making cold calls to attorneys?
Any input welcome. Have a blessed day!

Here are a couple examples:

Female voice: XYZ Law Firm:

LNC: My name is ABC. I am a nurse and I work with attorneys in the area on their medical malpractice cases. I was wondering if I could speak with attorney XYZ. Is he available?

Female voice: No, he’s not available…..are you working on a case now?

LNC: No, I am not. I would like to work with him to develop his cases that are medically related. May I speak to his paralegal? (pause)

Another Female voice: I am his paralegal.

LNC: Hello, My name is ABC. What is your name? (pause giving name, Paula). Hello, Paula, I am ABC with LLC Legal Nurse Consultant. About two weeks ago, I sent Attorney XYZ an informational packet about the types of services my company provides. I would like to set up a meeting with Attorney XYZ at his earliest convenience to show him what all my company has to offer him in his medical-related cases.

Paula, the paralegal: Well, he sets up his own appointments. I can let you leave a message on his voice mail.

LNC: Thank you, Paula, that will be perfect.

VOICE MAIL: (you leave a brief message with contact info and request to meet at his convenience).

Gatekeeper: DDD Law Firm, Tammy speaking

LNC: Hello, Tammy, I am a Legal Nurse Consultant and sent information to Attorney DDD about 2 weeks ago. Would it be possible to come in and speak to him?

Tammy: Let me check his calendar. (pause) Yes, he has an opening tomorrow at 0900.

LNC: 9 o'clock. That will be fine. Thank you so much for your time, Tammy.

(To the attorney on voice mail)

Hello, Attorney XYZ. My name is ABC and I am a Legal Nurse Consultant with (name of your business). I sent you some information about my services about 10 days ago and was wondering if you have had time to look over the material? If possible, I would like to schedule a meeting with you to discuss how I may assist you with your next medical-related cases. I will call back in a couple of days to set up an interview (meeting). Thank you for your time and attention.

Male voice: Attorney DJ and Associates

LNC: Hello, my name is ABC and am a Legal Nurse Consultant who assists attorneys with their medical-related cases. I will be in your area next week and will be happy to bring by some material for Attorney DJ's perusal.

Male voice: That will be fine.

LNC: Thank you for your time.

If you are unable to speak with the attorney at any one call, ask to leave a voice message, then follow up on that about two days later.

Hope some of these styles help.
